The Surrey Hills Singes were thrilled to win the Daykin cup at Godalming musc festival. The adjudicator, Neil Jenkins, said the following about their performance
All my Trials
A very good mood was set here by a confident and able soloist and a vocal group that blended well and sang sympathetically. The unison singing was extremely fine, and then, when the harmony developed, there was an equally fine balance. What a very moving performance
Las Amarillas
This was a really brave and exciting performance! And what made it particularly clever was to do it without a beat, thus forcing each line to be particularly self-sufficient. The changes of tempo were very secure. Just take care at the top of the voice that it doesn’t become strident. But rhythmically it was very brilliant and accurate.
